Program Summary :

GMF’s Warsaw Office, established in May 2011, serves as a forum and source of ideas for strengthening transatlantic cooperation, with particular focus on issues critical to Poland, the Baltic states, and Central and Eastern Europe more broadly.

Job Summary :

The Program Assistant / Program Coordinator (PA / PC) coordinates GMF’s Warsaw programs with a variety of convening, research and administrative activities that foster transatlantic cooperation related to the region.

PA / PC coordinates numerous projects, conferences, workshops, lunch and dinner discussions in Poland and across the region.

S / he / they will be responsible for assisting with fundraising activities, including developing and editing proposal narratives and budgets and drafting grant reports.

The PA / PC will contribute to the development of analysis and written products, providing research support to the Office Director, gathering data and producing shorter analytical pieces and publishing internal reports.

Successful candidates will be hard-working self-starters, with excellent writing, analytical, communication, and organizational skills and a willingness to adapt to the dynamic GMF work environment.

Essential Duties / Responsibilities :

  • Coordinating events for GMF’s Warsaw Program, including conferences, workshops, seminars, study tours for policymakers and opinion leaders to Poland, and roundtable discussions at GMF’s Warsaw Office
  • Providing research and analyses for GMF’s Warsaw related publications
  • Monitoring and analyzing key policy developments in Poland, Central Europe, as well as Eastern Europe
  • Developing and editing proposal narratives and budgets and drafting grant reports
  • Identifying and pursuing policy opportunities and initiating programming on issues across the agenda of the Warsaw Office
  • Publishing blogs and preparing internal short research papers under general direction of the Office Director
  • Assisting GMF staff and Fellows with day-to-day administration of the Warsaw Program, including managing mailing lists, maintaining schedules, and updating the website
  • Knowledge and Skills Needed :

  • Demonstrable interest or background in international relations as well as a familiarity with US-European and issues related to Poland
  • Demonstrated work experience (2 to 3 years) in a related field
  • Excellent writing and spoken skills in English; proficiency in Polish
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to appropriately represent GMF externally
  • Excellent research and analytical skills
  • Ability to work in fast-paced, dynamic, growing and team-based environment
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities and deadlines and to operate with minimal guidance
  • EU citizenship required
  • Education :

    Master’s Degree in international relations, European Union Studies, security studies, or a related field desired.
