This position is part of a team developing commercial vehicle transmission systems solutions. As a member of the team, you will deliver technical solutions to satisfy internal and external customers.
Responsibilities will include supporting requirements definition for software algorithm and hardware designs, supporting development of controls software, and an emphasis on verification and validation activities to certify that system and functional requirements are met.
In this role, you will be responsible for working with your engineering manager and the relevant domestic and international teams to achieve the desired results.
Your key deliverables :
Develop validation and verification methods and test plans at a unit, sub-system and vehicle level to validate performance and functional requirements are satisfied
Analyze vehicle data from test and customer vehicles to investigate, identify, and resolve issues and performance complaints
Develop and revise test procedures to test system level requirements to ensure the product meets product performance requirements.
Help define and improve systems engineering standards and processes
Use standard engineering tools and processes (e.g. FMEA, FTA) to ensure product reliability and quality targets are achieved
Support improvements to the engineering standard work processes used to engineer products
Perform / support vehicle modelling and simulation activities to predict performance and impact due to hardware variability.
Support prototype and production OEM vehicle integration and development efforts from the powertrain controls perspective (e.
g., configuration, calibration and drivability)
Conduct and participate in design review process for project approval
Verify solutions created by you or other team members through simulation, sub-system and vehicle level testing
Work with cross-functional teams to develop and release new products and features
Four-year Bachelor of Science degree in a relevant technical field from a nationally accredited university or college
Minimum of one years of analytical and problem-solving experience in mechanical and electrical systems. To include co-op, internship and collegiate design competition experience
Ability to obtain a commercial driver’s license (CDL)
Basic understanding of driveline functionality and components
Good communication skills (written and oral)
Good analytical and problem-solving skills in mechanical and electrical systems
Basic understanding of vehicle drivetrain / powertrain systems and components
Project management skills to assess task effort, manage priorities, and report status
Strong communication skills with ability to interface directly with external partners, suppliers, and both internal and external customers
Master’s degree in relevant engineering field a plus
Experience with SysML tools such as IBM Rhapsody
MATLAB and Simulink experience a plus
Experience with SAE J1939 Communication Protocol
Expertise with data acquisition tools such as Vector CANape and CANalyzer
DFSS green belt
Holds current commercial driver license
