Role Summary :
The Lead Factory Commodity Site Leader will be responsible for all sourcing activities required so the site can purchase material at the lowest cost and in the most efficient manner to support operations.
This includes managing and negotiating contracts for suppliers not covered by a global contract. They will also make sure the site properly executes global contracts and represents the site so that future global contracts result in the best possible outcome for the site.
Essential Responsibilities :
As the Lead Factory Commodity Site Leader you will :
Lead the assigned non-global commodities for the site to achieve variable cost productivity, cycle reduction and cash flow.
Manage the supplier selection
Manage day to day product modifications, spares specific needs, customers specific configurations and options by communicating the new specifications and needs to the suppliers already selected
Define cost reduction projects, drive contract negotiations, process changes, and implementation of sustainable cost controls, including collaboration with Finance to validate the impact of projects and contract negotiations to the general ledger
Develop technical and market expertise to support the site spend
Enforce business policies to meet business targets and customer needs, including improving procurement processes and optimizing sourcing resources to enhance the customer experience with sourcing
Participate in planning processes
Work closely with engineering, commercial team, procurement team and supplier quality engineers to drive direct material productivity ideas and ensure fulfillment and quality requirements are achieved
Align with logistics and commercial teams to minimize total landed costs and meet localization requirements
Identify and assess supplier capabilities, and measure and manage supplier performance
Negotiate lowest possible cost for the assigned commodities while maintaining the highest quality of goods and services
Support NPI costing : from design through first unit delivery, leading RFQ, negotiations and supplier award (for commodities not covered by global contract)
Ensure global contracts are executed properly and market shares are followed
Monitor PO prices versus historical references to identify adverse trends and savings opportunities
Lead supplier negotiations regarding claims / recovery
Actively support supplier fulfilment issue resolution as the first level of escalation from a commercial standpoint.
Qualifications / Requirements :
Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university
Minimum of 2 years of supply chain experience in Sourcing, Sales, Commercial Operations, and / or Supply Chain.
Desired Characteristics :
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering
Master’s Degree in Business Administration (MBA)
Prior sourcing experience in contract negotiation negotiating, identifying opportunities, selecting suppliers and implementing contracts
Prior experience in developing a multi-year commodity sourcing strategy
Prior experience in leading negotiations
Strong quantitative and data analysis skills
Strong project management and process improvement skills
Process leadership experience such as CAP, Work-Out, process improvement, or quality CPM or APICS certification
Six Sigma training or equivalent quality training
Strong oral and written communication skills
Strong interpersonal skills
