Join the Tabletop RPG team at Fandom and work on digital companions for the world’s greatest role playing games. As the Staff E-Commerce Engineer, you will own driving the technical design and solutions for e-commerce on our Tabletop RPG platform.

You will work closely with and provide technical mentorship and guidance to other engineers on your cross-functional product development team.

You will work closely with the development team manager on breaking down and estimating team workloads.

  • Building reliable and secure ECommerce services in a distributed architecture
  • Scaling a website for heavy user load, e.g. 1,000,000+ monthly active users
  • Using AWS services to manage globally distributed infrastructure
  • Implementing relational or NoSQL databases in a production environment
  • Breaking down monolithic framework architectures into smaller distributed services
  • You have run or played in your own Dungeons and Dragon games.
  • Duties and Responsibilities

  • Leads technical design and direction of ECommerce system implementation
  • Direct mentorship of junior engineers
  • Writes maintainable, high-quality features in a team-based development environment
  • Uses a shared code base with peer reviews and pull requests
  • Writes and maintains unit and integration tests
  • Assists with improving code integration and deployment processes
  • Participates and occasionally lead planning, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives
  • Adheres to and improves processes and coding standards
  • Creates and maintains project documentation
  • Consult for other teams and share knowledge across the organization
  • Proactively identify risks and opportunities to improve the team’s technical approach
  • Proactively identify and propose engineering improvements in their area(s) of expertise
  • Understand and contribute to the broader platform architecture
  • Qualifications

  • 5+ years web development experience
  • 2+ years ECommerce-focused engineering experience
  • Strong software design patterns and practices
  • Strong mentoring and coaching skills
  • Strong troubleshooting / debugging skills
  • Strong communication skills
  • Proficient in object-oriented development
  • Proficient in web development technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, JSON, Ajax, etc.)
  • Database experience (SQL and NoSQL)
  • Python
  • AWS / cloud infrastructure experience
  • React / JS SPA framework experience
  • Docker
  • D&D / Tabletop gaming Interest / Passion
