Nexteer Automotive is looking for systems engineers with a diverse skill set who enjoy solving challenging problems related to system integration.
The main focus of this position is to lead the elicitation and development of requirements and collaborate with the organization to make sure they are understood and that they are building a design to meet them.
The ideal candidate would enjoy running an in vehicle test to develop or calibrate an algorithm that improves the overall driving experience and troubleshooting complex challenges related to the interaction of any of the components on our Mechatronic System in Validation Lab.
Will support Development Process from Requirements phase to final System Integration in Vehicle or Lab.
Own the integration of mechanical, electrical hardware, software, and controls of the Electronic Power Steering System into the vehicle
Have opportunities to support the development of our products from pursuit of business through product launch and current production
Be exposed to a rapidly changing business environment and be a focal point of our effort to develop solutions to grow within that environment
Lead technical discussions with a customer regarding a new requirement or the status of a validation test
Supporting system level HIL testing to establish performance criteria prior to vehicle integration
Work with program management on impact assessment of change requests

Lead a team of highly motivated engineers in the development of electrical controller modules for advanced steering systems.
Execute formal release of embedded software and vehicle calibrations
Create and release electrical controller specifications and drawings for leading edge technologies.
Act as the primary electrical engineering interface to the customer.
Interface with software project management and cross-functional teams in order to meet project deliverables for design, quality, reliability, and cost.
Responsible for DFMEA"s, Customer Documentation and system level DVP&R.
Perform bench-level evaluations on new features and software content.
Work with Nexteer prototype operations on delivery of cutting edge technologies for OEM vehicle testing.
Lead the problem solving activity regarding complex hardware / software design challenges.
At least 2 years of relevant job experience
Experience performing engineering calculations using Matlab / Simulink and spreadsheets (Microsoft Excel)
Excellent communication skills and a desire to work with people
Excellent problem solving techniques (ie. Shainin Red X, DFSS)
Enjoy driving and evaluating vehicles
Good organization and documentation abilities
Must be able to drive a vehicle and possess a valid driver license
Must be able to make quick physical maneuvers while driving
