With the completion of our new, world-class facility in Wroclaw with its more than 20 development and testing labs in addition to the many existing labs in the various locations around Europe, it is critical to enhance our lab management team to be able to support Poland as well as these other locations.
The Systems Engineer will be a crucial part of this team and will be largely responsible for maintaining the integrity and operational consistency of the labs and control systems ensuring their performance to design specifications and state of readiness as well as providing continuous technical support, guidance and training to all the lab users.
As a Systems Engineer, you will understand, monitor, maintain, upgrade and evolve an extensive array of laboratories and infrastructure systems in support of all Dolby’s business groups.
Heavy emphasis is placed on communication and coordination of actions with the lab users, internal IT and building facilities organizations, external vendors, and service providers.
Excellent communication and diplomacy, a strong customer service oriented work ethic, a roll-up-the-sleeves preventive approach to facilities maintenance, planned and well-
orchestrated upgrades to facilities and systems, timeliness and responsiveness, and keen instincts for troubleshooting and resolving problems are paramount to success in this role.
Essential Job Functions
Maintain, troubleshoot, repair, upgrade and document the various lab configurations and infrastructure systems including audio, video, cinema, lighting and control systems.
Maintain and update CAD drawings and other documentation to keep the systems information current and relevant.
Provide ongoing training and technical support to all business group lab users on the lab features, control rooms, signal routing systems, lighting systems and control systems.
Be the primary interface with Management, Engineering, Facilities, IT and other internal groups and external contractors as it relates to labs.
Help to develop, implement and maintain scheduling protocols for lab utilization; calibrations; hardware / software updates;
control room changes and updates; lighting system updates; control system updates.
Support and assist business groups in reconfiguring or designing / redesigning labs to adapt to new use cases, functions or requirements.
5-8 years of systems engineering or systems integration experience with background and knowledge in lab design, audio and video systems, broadcast systems and protocols, signal control and routing systems, lighting control systems and IT infrastructure and processes.
A practical working knowledge of room acoustics, electro acoustics, consumer and professional audio and video standards and protocols.
Knowledge of common lab systems and equipment such as MeyerSound systems, IHSE keyboard video monitor system (KVM routing systems), Nion MediaMatrix, and other similar systems.
Extensive knowledge of audio, video, cinema and IT standards and formats.
Electronics hardware background including troubleshooting and testing.
Proficient in the use of CAD tools such as AutoCAD or other similar programs.
Background in software and programming preferred in relevant tools such as Mac OS / Windows / Linux operating systems, DSP programming tools and other scripting software.
Ability to communicate clearly and precisely, both orally and in writing with strong organizational skills and the ability to multitask in a high activity, time-sensitive environment.
Ability to work with and influence a diverse group of people.
