A Career with the Private Investment Accounting Team

The Private Investment Accounting Team support the accounting and operations for a dynamic portfolio of over 50 privately held private equity and venture capital investments in the Financial, Consumer Discretionary, Healthcare, Real Estate, FinTech, AI and other sectors.

The Investment Accounting team is responsible for maintaining the official books and records for the Firm’s private equity investments and also provides governance and oversight of the external administrator who maintains the official books and records for venture capital investments.

The team interacts frequently with a number of internal constituents within the broader Finance Team as well as the founder’s family office, tax and legal.

What you’ll do

  • Responsible for the monthly close and financial and regulatory reporting requirements for the Firm’s private equity and venture capital portfolio companies including : Recording monthly journal entries for the private equity investments (e.
  • g. capital calls, realizations, distributions, valuation adjustments, expense tracking) and reconciling accountsShadowing the fund administrator for venture capital investments (e.

    g. prepare NAV reconciliations and analytics and coordinate with fund administrator to resolve unexpected variances, etc.

    Consolidating multiple entities for reporting purposesPreparing monthly reporting packagesCollaborating with other investment services teams including the family office team, payroll, accounts payable, fund administration, financial planning and tax to ensure all monthly close tasks have been completed

  • Support the preparation of regulatory and statistical accounting reports
  • Liaise with auditors on accounting and year-end audit matters
  • Work closely with the tax department to translate GAAP-basis financial records to cash basis for purposes of supporting the production of Schedules K-1
  • Coordinate valuation adjustments with internal valuation team
  • Assist in documenting, implementing and maintaining internal financial controls and procedures
  • Provide ad-hoc analysis and reports in response to requests for information by management
  • Think dynamically, collaboratively, strategically and globally to help the team manage risk, enhance processes and solve problems
  • Foster strong relationships with various department within the firm
  • Assist in exploring technological solutions to help the team solve everyday problems and drive efficiency
  • What’s required

  • Undergraduate or graduate degree in accounting with evidence of strong academic performance (CPA / CA eligible or licensed candidates are strongly preferred)
  • 1-4 years of relevant experience, preferably including audit and investment accounting experience (Big Four experience preferred)
  • Attention to detail and unwavering commitment to getting to the right answer
  • Experience with internal financial control-based requirements
  • Highly proactive & organized
  • Strong data analysis skills / experience
  • Experience with general ledger systems; Geneva, TNR or other portfolio accounting software experience is a plus, but is not required
  • Ability to think creatively and critically to solve problems
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English
