Job Description

This role sits within our Financial & Risk ( F&R ) business. On January 30, 2018, Thomson Reuters announced that it signed a definitive agreement to enter into a strategic partnership with private equity funds managed by Blackstone related to the company's F&R business.

As part of the transaction, Thomson Reuters has agreed to sell a 55% majority stake in Financial & Risk and will retain a 45% interest in the business.

Thomson Reuters will maintain full ownership of its Legal, Tax & Accounting and the Reuters News businesses. The transaction is expected to close in the second half of the year and is subject to specified regulatory approvals and customary closing conditions.

Business Intelligence Specialist

YOU AND YOUR TEAM :

You will join the global business intelligence unit which works within the dynamic working environment of the Risk Management Solutions team at Thomson Reuters.

The global business intelligence team is part of the company’s wider Risk Management operation, and currently has team members in Asia, Europe and the Americas.

This position is located in Poland as part of our 500-strong risk management team and is part of a sophisticated organization that offers a number of career paths and professional development opportunities.

WHY IS THIS JOB IMPORTANT?

At Risk Management Solutions we answer some of the most crucial business questions, among them : Do you really know your business partners and the environment within which they operate?

To answer those questions, and in conjunction with our public domain research colleagues, the business intelligence unit seeks the insights of expert and informed sources, adding those to the information gathered by our public domain research partners.

Your job is to ensure that members of the global business community can clearly identify their customers and collaborators, compile and manage their partners’ risk profiles, better mitigate the potential for damage to their own reputations, and meet the requirements of regulations designed to fight corruption, money laundering and terrorist financing.

SOME OF THE DAILY TASKS YOU WILL PERFORM :

  • Gather human-source intelligence in accordance with our clients’ risk assessment and management needs, seeking relevant information from open sources and conducting interviews by telephone, through electronic means and face-
  • to-face to generate source-based risk assessments.

  • Compile, write and edit appropriately focused reports.
  • Under the direction of the regional business intelligence manager take responsibility for the day-to-day initiation, conduct, management, quality control and timely delivery of source-
  • based business intelligence.

  • Assist the regional manager in building our business intelligence capacity, and deputize for those regional managers as required.
  • Maintain a high level of awareness regarding the operations of Risk Managed Services, its business intelligence unit, its strategic initiatives, and its day-to-day activities.
  • WHAT DO YOU NEED TO BRING?

  • Solid experience in journalism and / or in enhanced due diligence in a role related to the key tasks detailed above.
  • Advanced written English skills, the ability to write, review and edit complex and narrative risk assessments.
  • Fluency in spoken and written Russian.
  • An appreciation of and interest in contemporary political, economic, regulatory and social issues as they apply to Russia and Eastern Europe.
  • Well-developed interviewing skills and the ability to engage sources and colleagues at all levels.
  • Decision making, problem solving and advanced interpersonal skills, and the ability to maintain productive relationships with colleagues and associates amid demands for high quality output and pressure of deadline.
  • The ability to troubleshoot, and to resolve conflicting demands and priorities.
  • Y OU WILL BE EVEN MORE COMPETITIVE IF :

  • You have an advanced awareness and understanding of the Internet and Social Media as research tools.
  • You have a well-established and comprehensive network of contacts in Russia and throughout Eastern Europe, and a demonstrated ability to manage high volume input from that network.
