ELECTRONICS TECH MFG / REPAIR-2000852
Under general supervision, records and performs testing of production components, control systems and cabinets to Woodward specifications.
This position performs intermediate level of troubleshooting and repair of production and Customer owned products. Assists Engineering departments as needed to ensure products are tested.
This position reports to the Operations Supervisor.
Tests production modules and / or systems following written procedures at advanced level
Troubleshoots failing units down to the component level under limited supervision
Creates documentation as required by written procedures
May participate with Engineering to develop and improve Woodward testing capabilities
Follows and may create Test Specification Procedures (TSP) as required in collaboration with Engineering
Conducts on the job training of others as required
Participates in continuous improvement activities
Control of material movement and machine availability in line with agreed work orders
Responsible for work and labor allocation within designated area and highlighting bottle necks or problems
May assemble controls and / or cabinets
Performs Quality tests as required
Performs non-conformance reporting, transactions and root cause analysis
Required to fill out detailed repair reports
May process internal and external nonconforming material as needed in support of SQE including : retrieval and analysis of material, interpretation of preliminary findings and restatement of problem statements to ensure supplier understanding of problem, processing material through the necessary WISE screens, maintaining necessary documentation and processing material to suppliers or scrap

May participate in Customer Acceptance Tests
Electronics Technician Only
Rework printed circuit boards using common soldering tools per applicable standards at advanced level
May work with Customer Service to ensure the needs of our customers are met for products returned for Warranty and Repair
May prepare repair estimates to customers
Knowledge / Skills / Abilities
Solid knowledge of electro-mechanical theory.
Solid ability to apply a systematic problem solving approach
Ability to read and understand many different types of documentation (i.e. schematics, build books, bills of materials)
Ability to learn and apply a variety of more complex computer applications
Ability to follow detailed instructions
Ability to perform module replacements, wiring and cabling according to wiring diagrams, schematics and engineering drawings
Advanced ability to troubleshoot to a component level using intermediate technical skills using standard equipment
Solid level communication skills. Ability to mentor and provide guidance to other members.
Electrical Technician Only
Solid knowledge of electrical theory including analog and digital circuits
Electronics Technician Only
Solid ability to remove and replace Through-hole Technology (THT) and basic Surface-Mount Technology (SMT) devices using modern soldering techniques
Solid technical writing skills. A position in the Repair department will require filling out detailed Repair reports
Education or Formal Training
In US : Associate of Applied Science degree in Electronics or Associates of Applied Science degree with electronics coursework (or equivalent military experience) required
In Germany : Associate degree
In Poland : Technician degree on electrical / electronics or equivalent
Minimum of two years or more Electronic / Electrical Technician experience beyond educational requirements or equivalent demonstrated proficiency
Materials and Equipment Used
PC'S including word processing applications, spreadsheets and Woodward proprietary applications.
Standard hand tools
Standard electronic test equipment such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, function generators, and power supplies
Automated test stands designed by Woodward
Working Environment / Physical Activities
Work hours required to meet production needs (multiple shifts, overtime, weekend, holidays, as required)
Production environment with possible exposure to noise, dust, electromagnetic fields and temperatures above 80 degrees Fahrenheit / 27 degrees Celsius
Requires lifting up to 30 lbs / 14 kg occasionally
Standing and bending throughout shift
May be required to pass Near Vision and / or Color Vision examinations
May need to use protective equipment as required in the assigned work area
