Remedial Analyst is responsible for developing and implementing workout (recovery) strategies that are intended to either minimize the risks or maximize returns on larger commercial transactions originated for restructuring, stabilizing, or exiting the directly managed accounts.
The remedial officer directly manages Remedial accounts, including accounts in certain niche lending programs such as health care, and situations involving franchise risk and / or potential fraudulent activities. Key Responsibilities :
Managing assigned accounts within acceptable risk parameters on an ongoing basis until workout is complete.
Identifying, modifying and implementing designed and approved workout strategies.
Working and interacting with customers and other third party professionals to acquire all necessary documentation, due diligence, and market intelligence.
Evaluating and processing data, historical information and KYC to determine appropriate strategy.
Developing action plans for assigned portfolio.
Negotiating with customers and internal product / customer partners.
Reviewing accounts on a routine basis to gauge the level of progress achieved versus stated action plan, payment status (delinquency), documentation exceptions, annual review anniversaries, financial covenants, data integrity, and any other customer service (internal or external) follow-
ups that arise during the course of time.
Advising Business and Risk Management partners of progress of the workout plan as well as potential risks that may develop throughout the course of the remedial effort.
Preparing metrics and reporting criteria for loan performance including local regulatory, internal and external requirements such as FAS 114, TDR, GDRS
Dealing with internal and external counsel strategically and on a cost effective basis.
5+ years of commercial banking experience with an emphasis on credit analysis, preferably in remedial management.
Sound understanding of credit issues and is able to establish and process risk mitigation plans from inception to implementation to resolution.
Excellent negotiating skills with customers and internal partners.
Capable of collecting information from various parties with potential opposing views / agendas in a respectful, efficient, and detail-oriented manner.
Strong ability to communicate and influence in a cross functional environment in settings that could involve conflicting priorities and timetables.
Ability to analyze historical data and projections.
Excellent strategic, negotiation and implementation skills.
Strong communication skills with ability to synthesize the argument in a logical and rational manner.
Understands and has ability to articulate alternative transactions (pros / cons); identifies the related market, credit, operational, and legal / regulatory risks associated with the specific transaction / borrower.
Ability to work well under pressure and multi-task.
