Job Description Summary

This role, reporting to the Global Projects Values Stream EHS Leader, is to lead and drive EHS Performance Improvement in Project execution and will work primarily with the Gas Power Projects Construction & Commissioning (C&C) organization, both at the global level but also closely with the Project Site Based Teams to jointly own and drive EHS Performance Improvement in the Gas Power Projects.

It will also be required to work collaboratively with the Pole and Regional Operational & EHS Leaders and support the New Units Heavy Duty Gas Turbine (NU HDGT) Business Line (BL).

Job Description

Essential Responsibilities

  • Provide EHS leadership, support, and technical guidance to, and build strong relationships with the Project and Site Teams ensuring that the Gas Power Safety Management System (SMS) and Lean Programs (EHS Standard Work(s) and EHS Daily Management) are effectively implemented.
  • Develop, implement, and drive specific EHS improvement programs with Project and Site Teams and integrate these into an overall Projects EHS Operational Excellence program covering all project phases from ITO to OTR.
  • Participate in and lead the EHS compliance program and audits of Projects sites, and then provide direct support in implementing and sustaining corrective actions.
  • In collaboration with the Gas Power EHS Center of Excellence (COE), support the development and lead the implementation and delivery of the EHS Operational Leadership Training and other EHS training at Gas Power Project Sites.
  • Support the effective implementation of the Gas Power EHS Framework for Project Organizations, and in particular mentor and guide Element Owners to meet their obligations.
  • Support and participate in the Gas Power Partner EHS workshops, improvement programs and relationship enhancement initiatives in collaboration with the Projects Value Stream Partnering EHS Leader.
  • Support all related EHS Project activities to actively share best practices and solutions.
  • Provide timely information and advice to internal customers in relation to any trends that become evident through data analysis.
  • Understand regulatory changes and trends and forecast and communicate impacts for Projects.
  • Participate in corporate and cross-business initiatives and mission-based teams to support standardization and alignment of EHS management systems for Projects.
  • Stay up to date on innovative EHS management best practices, maintaining solid cross business and external relationships.
  • Provide ongoing support to the Global Projects Value Stream Leader and Team.
  • Qualifications / Requirements

  • Ability to communicate fluently in English (written and verbal)
  • Bachelor's degree in EHS, Occupational Safety and Health, Environmental Health, Engineering, Business Operations or equivalent, or equivalent experience leading projects, performance initiatives, and programs in the EHS field.
  • Significant experience in EHS Site and Project Management with direct experience working on Project Sites under different contractual arrangements or substantially similar work.
  • General ability to travel up to 50% of the time and reasonably as needed to drive strategy, support problem solving directly with Site Teams.

  • Knowledge of GE’s EHS programs and policies or equivalent external to GE.
  • Demonstrated ability to organize, motivate and lead teams, drive change and interact cross functionally.
  • Proven ability to work in a matrix environment, influence and motivate diverse teams to achieve a unified goal.
  • Demonstrated ability to simultaneously manage multiple projects and other responsibilities, adjust to changing priorities and to make decisions with speed and accuracy based on available information.
  • Ability to interface effectively with all levels of the organization as well as organizations outside GE (customers and regulatory agencies).
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills.
  • Solution orientated - demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve problems.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead programs / projects.
  • Ability to document, plan, market, and execute programs. Established project management skills.
