Position Description

We are looking for a Senior Manager, Security Operations to join us in a newly created role to lead our security operations program.

The candidate will be responsible for improving and maturing all aspects of our global security operations, including overseeing management of our outsourced SOC, improving enterprise security controls, threat & vulnerability management, security monitoring, incident response as well as reporting of relevant security metrics.

As the Senior Manager, Security Operations, you will take responsibility to protect, detect, investigate and remediate security issues in our global enterprise environment and production services.

You will be managing a small security operations team, as well as directing our external SOC services to ensure optimal service delivery.

In this hands-on role, you will be subject matter expert on security operations with extensive experience in securing enterprise environments, leading global incident investigations and response, security automation and optimization.

You will provide leadership and mentor the team towards a best in class Security Operations environment. In this role you will work closely with a wide variety of technology and business stakeholder across all level, as well as our managed IT services provider.

Key requirements :

  • Improve and optimise security operations across our enterprise and production services, both on-premises and cloud based.
  • Identify inefficient processes, security operations gaps and implement improvements, e.g. through automation.

  • Be the senior subject matter expert on configuring and optimizing security monitoring and alerting technologies, incident investigations and response, security operations automation and cyber threat monitoring
  • Propose and implement Security Operations initiatives to the Cyber Security strategic roadmap and regularly report and refine security operations KPI
  • Manage and mentor security operations staff, collaborate with and support other security functions to drive and mature the organisations security program
  • Support organization wide cyber security initiatives and tasks to improve security maturity of QIAGEN
  • Position Requirements

    Key requirements :

  • Previous experience, and clear evidence, of developing, improving and leading a security operations program in a fast-paced global organisation of similar size and global representation across multiple technologies and platforms
  • Proven experience and excellent knowledge of managing and optimizing security monitoring and alerting technologies, with deep experience in solutions by Rapid7, Splunk and Microsoft.
  • Proven experience of effectively and efficiently managing major cyber security incident response activities in a global environment across multiple stakeholder
  • Previous hands-on expertise with technical incident response activities, like host compromise assessment, malware analysis, forensic analysis.
  • Thorough expertise with cloud security operations; detection, prevention, and monitoring for cloud environments (focus on Microsoft Azure), as well as enterprise technologies (Windows / Linux / CISCO)
  • Desirable requirements :
  • Professional qualifications suitable to the role (GCIH, ECIH, GCED, or comparable)
  • Expertise in a broad array of system and network security technical controls and processes (e.g., identity & access management, system hardening, intrusion prevention, threat intelligence, etc.)
  • Demonstrated experience with managing people across multiple roles and functions and in a global environment. Ability to train, manage and assist co-workers and direct reports on all aspects of security operations
  • Previous experience in a fast paced, regulated Biotech / Medtech or Healthcare environment
  • Evidence of ongoing personal development in the information security profession e.g. research, tool development or personal blog
  • Personal Requirements

  • Excellent collaboration and fluent communication skills in English. Articulate and capable of producing high quality written output, including policies, standards and reports on a regular basis and to tight timelines
  • Strong personality, able to quickly build positive cross functional relationships
