Tasks

We are looking for a talented, inspiring and highly motivated team manager to take responsibility for a newly established components development team in Mercedes-

Benz Research & Development Korea.

You responsibilities in detail :

  • Lead a team of engineers responsible for the development of various automotive components (e.g. Displays, Camera Systems, etc.
  • and management of Tier-1 and Tier-2 suppliers.

  • Manage global and local development activities in various vehicle projects in close alignment with HQ and suppliers.
  • Implement efficient supplier management processes, especially for local suppliers and development partners.
  • Report project status, technology trends and benchmark results to relevant stakeholders. Define and implement countermeasures in case defined KPIs are not met.
  • Monitor existing and potential suppliers, research institutes, startups and universities on relevant technologies.
  • Develop and realize a team strategy and contribute to the development of the strategy of the business unit.
  • Support individual development, motivation and empowerment of subordinates. Manage HR processes for all subordinates according to the HR guideline.
  • Manage and monitor resources (budget, personnel, external engineering) effectively and efficiently and according to company’s needs.
  • Education

  • Academic degree in electrical engineering, software engineering, computer science / engineering or equivalent (GPA is above average).
  • Master's degree or PhD preferred
  • Experience

  • Minimum 8 years’ experience in R&D area (automotive, IT or related)
  • Experience in leading engineering teams in international projects with high complexity
  • Proficient experience in development of automotive components or comparable fields of technology (e.g. mobile phone).
  • Proficient experience in supplier management
  • Experience in defining and implementing processes together with suppliers.
  • Working experience with western and Korean companies and good knowledge of western and Korean working culture.
  • Skills in multi-cultural working environments

  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills.
  • High level of self-initiative and proactive attitude.
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize and systematically analyze complex problems.
  • Team leader with very good people management skills and networking abilities.
  • Experience in multi-cultural working environment.
  • Language skills in Business English - fluent in written and spoken. (Language skills in German beneficial)
  • Safe and experienced driver. (Korean driver license for passenger cars is a must)
  • Willingness to travel.
