You will join our Hot End team where we are responsible for procuring and contracting raw materials that are specifically sourced for the ROCKWOOL production process of stone wool.

Together, we are 8 colleagues based in regional offices around Europe, and you will join 2 colleagues in Poland, your base will be in Poznan.

With us, you will find a very warm, welcoming team a small family within the company. We all have great knowledge of ROCKWOOL processes, suppliers and applications across categories and countries.

And we enjoy meeting virtually for now but often travelled together and met up across countries pre-COVID. And we cannot wait to do so again.

As our new category manager, you will be responsible for refractory linings and accessories, wear parts for furnace technology, being part of the Procurement team for Melting materials and supporting Group Development projects with regards to technology roll outs.

Managing this category, you will be responsible for strategy, contract and supplier management and becoming a project member on standardization and harmonization of the category.

Also, you will be an important supportive link to other category managers, regional purchasing managers and other stakeholders such as factories or senior management.

With time, your category may change, but to begin with, you will :

  • Build and maintain strategic supplier relationships with key category vendors
  • Support Operational Purchasing with material coordination / harmonization across the factories
  • Execute the strategy by leading activities that contribute value to the business
  • Identify new opportunities and possibilities, follow progress of testing and approval and lead the implementation of those
  • Identify risks and implement a risk mitigation plan and lead the implementation of such across ROCKWOOL factories
  • Monitor and fully understand market developments and category intel, communicating important changes to your manager / stakeholders in order to understand the full impact on the business
  • Prepare the budget input for Group Finance and Operational Companies
  • ROCKWOOL has very unique products and product application. So your challenge will be to understand those and the impact that you have on the process by thinking out of the box to find savings opportunities.

    We are looking for a colleague who is open-minded to new categories and creative thinking. You remain confident during negotiations and when dealing with stakeholders, and you use your great communication skills to work across the organisation.

    Also, while you are a strong team player, you are fine with your manager and team members being spread across countries, and you are ready to take on responsibility on your own.

    Moreover, we imagine you :

  • Possess strong procurement skills with 3-4 years of category experience (contracting, negotiation and tenders)
  • Have a solid understanding how raw materials are impacting on a manufacturing process and the cost (TCO approach)
  • Are used to stakeholder engagement and cross-organisational working
  • Are able to challenge the Status-Quo based on facts and figures
  • Have solid Excel and PowerPoint experience
  • Have experience with online procurement platforms (e.g. for RFQs)
  • Are fluent in English, used everyday orally and written format
  • Are used to working within sometimes challenging or changing timelines and deadlines and seeing your tasks through, always with a value aligned behaviour.
