What would I do?

Being a software engineer for one of our member experience product teams, you will be improving key areas of our web application (desktop & mobile) to help our users book the holiday they dream of.

This may include migrating the front-end to use our new React front-end component library, implement A / B tests or enhance our product offering with additional services.

You could be extending our REST API and GraphQL layer, adding new functionality to application services, adding caching to improve scalability and a lot more.

Some of the day-to-day responsibilities and tasks include :

  • Collaborate with domain experts and users of our services to understand their needs
  • Refine and estimate work items individually or together with the rest of the team
  • Address uncertainty and surface complexity using techniques such as spikes
  • Implement the right solution for the problem at hand while having the user in mind and by adhering to clean code and design practices
  • Troubleshoot potential issues in a systematic and evidence-driven way
  • Share your knowledge and learn from others by being a member of a Community of Practice
  • Come up with ideas to improve the delivery performance and wellbeing of your team
  • What should I bring with me?

  • Expertise in web application development using Grails or similar technologies, e.g. Spring Boot and Hibernate
  • Fluency in Groovy or willingness to learn. Also work in other languages when needed
  • Experience in working with relational databases such as MySQL. Some knowledge of NoSQL storage solutions like Redis and MongoDB would be beneficial as well
  • Frontend skills - React.js and other javascript libraries and frameworks, CSS, HTML
  • Experience with object oriented programming, design patterns, and distributed systems design
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to adjust your style based on the audience
  • A desire to learn and grow

    You may also have noticed we have offices in both London, Berlin, Dublin and Warsaw and we are happy to talk about any of these locations with you and can support remote working from these countries!     Recruitment Process :

  • 1st stage interview with Talent Acquisition Lead and Senior Engineering Manager. This is an opportunity for you to find out more about the position and for us to learn more about you and your career to date.
  • Technical Task. To be completed at home and should take you no longer than 3 hours
  • Final stage interview involving a paired programming task and meeting with the Senior Engineering Manager, Head of Engineering and meeting colleagues in Product and UX.
