The EMEA Division has sales of 2.0bn Euros and approximately 12,000 employees. The small EMEA headquarters team is based in London but the commercial and operational activities are managed through 12 Market Regions encompassing the whole of Europe, Middle East and Africa.
The EMEA Division is looking for an Embedded Linux Software Engineer for its Digital and Access Solutions (DAS) business to evaluate concepts and implement new features in our door access control hardware, connected both to devices around the door as well as to the cloud.
Your expertise will help ensure a secure and robust end-to-end communication for our connected devices, all aligned with our strategy being part of a cloud connected architecture.
Based in our R&D center in Krakow (Zabierzów) the role will report to the R&D Manager DAS EMEA.
This will be an exciting journey where we will change the perception and challenge / stretch the boundaries of what a door environment is capable of today.
A good analogy of this journey would be to compare moving from the landline phone to mobile.
What you will be doing
As mentioned, your expertise will help ensure a secure and robust end-to-end communication for our connected devices. With Linux in the door environment, capabilities become almost endless.
Your tasks will stretch from Proof of Concepts and evaluations to developing device drivers and applications to configure, upgrade and collect data from the door environment.
You will be part of a team of dedicated and motivated professionals who put pride in delivering innovative, high quality and secure products that are used EMEA wide.

Able to occasionally travel across EU and other ASSA ABLOY Regions
At least 10 years of experience working with embedded systems and cloud components
Strong experience in embedded Linux development and system security
Experience in debugging Linux systems stretching from embedded to cloud
Strong kernel space programming background (Device Drivers, Interfacing RTOS via dedicated MCU, Bootloader)
Excellent experience in preparing, maintaining and deploying Linux distributions targeting embedded systems
Familiar with continuous integrations and delivery philosophies
Work experience with agile development methodologies
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or similar
