As an Engineering Manager, you will drive engineering excellence across engineering teams.
You have solid and developed technical experience, a clear progression into management and a passion for driving high-performance teams composed of outstanding engineers.
You have a strong technical curiosity, eager to learn and understand your team’s domain and able to challenge the team based on your knowledge.
You can create delivery plans and monitor the projects’ delivery to ensure your teams successfully get their solutions into production.
You know when to challenge the team and when to let them learn from their own mistakes to be a servant leader. You are a proven Coach and Mentor, able to grow each of your team members.
As a leader, you will champion discussions across the whole DAZN as part of community-based sharing groups.
A BIT ABOUT YOUR TEAM
Teams are typically made up of around 5-8 Engineers, a Product Manager, Scrum Master and an Engineering manager supported by Principal engineers.
A team tends to have a flat structure as everyone brings something different and has different experiences and knowledge.
Tech stack : Node.js, Typescript, AWS (ElastiCache, DynamoDB, SQS, SNS, Cloudwatch, S3), Terraform, Video encoding orchestration, New Relic, Docker, Selenium, Github, Jira, Jest.
HERE’S A BREAKDOWN OF WHAT YOU’LL DO (NOT ALL OF IT, JUST THE MOST IMPORTANT STUFF) :
Champion engineering and operational excellence, establishing metrics and processes for regular assessment and improvement
Building and maintaining an autonomous engineering team
Making delivery focused and data-driven decisions to ensure we meet our commitments
Recognising and rewarding success whilst building a safe environment so failures become opportunities to learn and improve
Managing the team's Compensation, Infrastructure, and Travel and Expense budgets
Collaborate with other Engineering teams to support advance modern, software development practices and advance a great engineering culture
DO YOU HAVE THESE ESSENTIALS?
Passionate about building teams in a collaborative, empathetic, empowering, and supportive way
Proven experience in managing and supporting engineering teams in an Agile environment (You build it, you own it)
Proven experience in collaborating and working with stakeholders (Business Development, Product)
Excellent communication and influencing skills with people at all seniority levels (English required)
Solid knowledge of backend
Strong background in software engineering

Experience with managing budgets
Development or QA background
AWS Infrastructure knowledge or certification
