The Design & Development Sr Engineer has a solid knowledge in his technical field, is responsible for providing planning and coordination for established initiatives within the product line and interacts with the different global functional expertise groups.
He or she ensures that projects are completed to specification, within an established time frame and budget.
This person will become a subject matter expert within the product line regarding integration of NTI-technologies, first line of support and global standardization.
Main responsibilities :
Acts as a technical reference for all DT products and supports his internal customers
Improves product line by structured development, based on customer input and global benchmarking. Typical projects, but not exclusive :
Coordinate the development of calculation tools to improve efficiency & effectiveness in application engineering, supported by the design automation team in our hub in India
Explore and define the boundary conditions of the different designs
Integrate new items in portfolio
Enhance critical knowledge driven by electrification
Establish the engineering infrastructure around the product line
Acts for most of the projects as an individual contributor or as a team member in a cross-functional team, with the support of technicians, mechanics, suppliers, the testing department or leads a small team that will work on a technical project
Assures compliance with the required project timing
Utilize print templates for damper systems to drive standardization, efficiency and quality improvement
Evaluate any deviations to the standards
Support maintenance of Engineering database to ensure latest templates are available
Integrates the sub-systems and component design / development / validation into the product design / development / validation
Support PLE’s and / or Product Management with the product portfolio strategy
Understand Tenneco manufacturing damper assembly processes and the key processes that affect damper performance
Supports the annual benchmarking plan for damping systems of competitors and analyze damper technology trends
Supports the development and maintenance of Global Generic DFMEA’s for the DT Product Line
Utilize the DFMEA as an engineering tool not a document
Is trained in structural problem solving and committed to obtaining green belt certificate
Required Skills :
Education / Certification :
Master in (electro-) mechanical engineering
Work Experience :
Minimum 5 years of relevant technical experience, preferably in the automotive industry
Reasoning Ability :
Ability to define problems collects data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
Strong analytical and complex problem solving ability
Specialized Skills / Knowledge :
Fluent in English. Working knowledge of German or French considered as +
Strong background in mechanical design and / or hydraulics, experience with electromechanical systems is an asset
Able to use or willing to learn statistical DFSS tools
Multicultural awareness : able to communicate and coordinate with remote locations
