The Legal Team provides day-to-day legal support for the various shared services within IHS Markit as well as commercial legal support for the Energy and Natural Resources business segments.

You will be a key member of the IHS Markit Legal team. Reporting into Senior Legal Counsel. You will work closely with Sales and Product professionals from IHS Markit’s ENR (Energy and Natural Resources) and / or CMS (Consolidated Markets) and / or Financial Markets (FM) business segments and with colleagues from other shared services groups to review, negotiate, draft, and process a variety of commercial agreements (e.
trial agreements and non-disclosure agreements). The candidate will provide legal support for IHS Markit’s commercial activities in EMEA, including Russia.
The candidate will also provide general legal advice and may ensure corporate secretarial compliance as per local Polish laws and regulations and corporate governance (including employment, corporate, litigation etc.
and day to day compliance with company’s policies, relevant applicable legislation, regulations, and ethical standards that affect business activities.
Key responsibilities include :

Developing knowledge of multiple areas of the law, including bankruptcy, intellectual property, and privacy, to counsel internal clients on business and legal risks arising at all stages of the customer relationship.
Analyzing, evaluating, and providing input to product and client initiatives with a view to identifying and highlighting possible business and legal risks to management.
Developing expertise in ENR and / or CMS and / or FM products and building strong relationships with internal business clients in IHS Markit offices around the world.
Drafting and maintaining template agreements.
Encouraging compliance by IHS Markit Colleagues with applicable policies and procedures (e.g. Sales RAD, insider trading, and compliance).
Providing training to ENR and / or CMS and / or FM colleagues and escalating issues on a timely basis where appropriate.

Key Qualifications and Skills :
2-4 years' experience as a practicing lawyer / legal counsel with commercial, contracts, contractual and general legal experience from a law firm or in an in-house legal environment
Legal experience in negotiating and drafting commercial and other business to business technology and information related contracts must have
Experienced in compliance, intellectual property and data privacy matters must have
Excellent command of the English language (both written and spoken) - must have
Working knowledge of the Russian language (both written and spoken) good to have but not essential
Knowledge of data and software licensing, intellectual property, and commercial contract law - preferred
Excellent drafting and negotiating skills.
Proven ability to manage a variety of commercial transactions and special projects simultaneously.
Experience with energy, engineering, technology, or financial companies is a plus.
Ability to anticipate and respond to problems.
Investigative, analytical, problem-solving, and strategic skills.
Proactive, enthusiastic, self-motivated team player.
