As a fast growing Shared Service Centre (SSC) we are looking for an Infrastructure Support Engineer. As a member of European Infrastructure Team you will perform 1st and 2nd line, desk-

side support for IS Incidents and Problems, including hardware break / fix support. You will also be providing an on-site hands and eyes’ assistance in response to incidents and changes relating to the infrastructure support team.

What will your essential responsibilities include?

  • Provisioning and supporting IT desktop services for XL Catlin users in order to meet service level and performance targets.
  • Working with authoring resources to maintain procedural / system documentation in order to / to ensure that services are delivered efficiently and effectively.
  • Provisioning support for ISDN / IP video-conferencing facilities as well as audio-visual systems in XL Catlin Office meeting rooms to ensure an effective and efficient facility for users.
  • Tracking and controlling any requests or incidents and maintaining full ownership of them in order to ensure a consistent and timely resolution.
  • Updating users on the progress of incidents or requests assigned to Desktop support and confirming with the requester upon resolution / completion of the requirement.
  • Providing Hands and Eyes support to the remote infrastructure support team in London / Europe with regard to Infrastructure incidents.
  • You will report to IS Manager Europe.

    We’re looking for someone who has these abilities and skills :

  • University degree
  • Proven experience in similar role (2nd line support, infrastructure support. etc.) preferably gained in an international environment
  • Proven experience in supporting Windows 7 / Office on desktop / laptop PCs in a global, distributed Windows environment (it includes : Active Directory;
  • Troubleshooting hardware issues; installing software, patches and updates; printer configuration; Citrix; Blackberry / mobile phones

  • Excellent troubleshooting skills
  • Knowledge of ISDN / IP based video-conferencing solutions would be advantageous
  • Fluency in English (both spoken and written) is a must
  • Creativity and strong analytical skills
  • Excellent communications skills
  • Good organizational skills and ability to work under pressure
  • Excellent customer service and people skills
  • Familiarity with ITIL practices or Lean Management principles will be an asset
