Engineering Design Center (EDC) was created under an agreement between General Electric and the Institute of Aviation. Our engineers work in following areas : aircraft jet engines, gas and steam turbines, electric motors and generators, centrifugal and reciprocating compressors, as well as industrial installations including pipelines, and automatics.
EDC employs over 1800 engineers and is the largest engineering center in the Central Europe.
Role Summary / Purpose
GE Aviation Systems Mechanical in EDC takes care of Nacelles, Aerostructures, Unison, Power and Dowty Propeller design. Due to significant growth of the Propellers D&A organization in EDC and increase of our responsibility in a design process there is a need for Lead Design Engineer.
We are looking for people with experience in mechanical design to support Dowty Propeller which is a leader in the design, development, manufacture and support of electronically controlled propeller systems.

Execute the design (mechanical tooling design or / and propeller and propeller systems design) or evaluation of assigned projects using sound engineering principles and adhering to business standards, practices, procedures, and product / program requirements
Identify problems and formulate solutions; take an innovative approach to problem solving; generate alternatives & takes risks
Develop and execute plans to achieve task objectives
Share technical knowledge with others in the group, team and across the organization
Provide technical leadership & guidance to personnel supporting the assigned project
Provide timely communications on significant issues or developments
Participate, lead and / or execute on specific functional & / or organizational initiatives
Contribute to and participate as a presenter or reviewer in technical and program reviews
Assure proper documentation of technical data generated for the assigned projects and / or tasks consistent with engineering policies and procedures
Demonstrate independence & sound technical judgment to execute on assignments
Demonstrate proficiency with core technical tools, methods and concepts
May lead a team or group within individual discipline
Qualifications / Requirements
Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (or Equivalent)
Demonstrated leadership skills and the ability to guide and influence others
Significant experience in mechanical design
Knowledge of propellers and propellers systems design would be an advantage
Experience in tooling design would be an advantage
Experience in surface modeling would be an advantage
Knowledge of manufacturing processes (knowledge of aerospace manufacturing techniques and typical aerospace materials would be an advantage)
Target oriented, responsible, demonstrated strong problem solving skills, passion to learn, open mind, strong motivation
Experience / knowledge of CAD software (Catia V5 or CREO (Pro / ENGINEER) knowledge and experience would be an advantage)
Ability to work with global team members across cultural boundaries
Demonstrated high written and verbal communication skills, good English (reading, speaking and writing)
Ability and availability to travel (UK)
