Lead the cross functional development, implementation and management of global strategies for key commodity groups across BorgWarner business unit.
Strategic Commodity Business Plans include : Global Commodity Strategy, Low Cost Economy Strategies, Supplier Rationalization, Cost Reductions, Key Supplier Performance Metrics, and New Technologies that support BorgWarner's Product Leadership position in the market.
Identify and develop Suppliers that meet and / or exceed BorgWarner’s long-term expectations that result in a differentiation in the marketplace.
Responsible for Supplier Relationship Management and global commodity strategies that leverage BorgWarner’s global buy. Lead "knowledge based negotiations" in the execution of Long-
Term Agreements and Supplier contracts. Pursue eBusiness solutions that eliminate non-value added activities and increase departmental efficiencies.
Provide global leadership in the communication, implementation, and enforcement of global commodity strategies.
Supplier Rationalization Strategy (grow / fix / exit strategies).Develop short, mid and long-term supplier business roadmaps.
Business Over Time.Low Cost Economy (LCE) Strategies.Commodity Benchmarking - thorough understanding of benchmarking data (internal and external) as well as key commodity cost drivers.
Track and communicate global commodity industry trends, competitor strategies, economic factors and opportunities in the global market place.
Thorough product / process knowledge and new technologies.Approved Supplier list (if not tracked on ECM level) - strategic, preferred, not approved, etc.
Develop cross-functional alignment / buy-in of all global commodity strategies and activities.Monitor and report compliance to commodity contracts and strategies.
Work closely with Manufacturing, Advanced Purchasing and Engineering in support of Cost Estimating / Quotation processIdentify Cost Reduction opportunities based on : Benchmarking data base and key cost driver analysisCapacity analysis at suppliersProduct / process improvementsImplementation of new technologiesExecution of competitive sourcing processCommodity market trendsEstablish and lead negotiation strategies by Supplier which includes input from all Product Lines and OperationsSupport commercial relations with production material Suppliers including Non Disclosure Agreements, Requests For Quotations, Quotation Analysis, Negotiations, LTA's, Prototype / Production Procurement, Purchase Order Development and Annual Improvement FactorsLead resolution of commercial issues with Global / Key Commodity Suppliers when necessary
Ensure source / resource recommendations are implemented on time and at recommended pricing levels
Create and execute action plans to reduce exposure to financially stressed suppliers. Manage High Risk / High Dependency Supplier list
